Guysborough, Nova Scotia - Authentic Seacoast Company Ltd today announced that it has mobilized its forces and joined the fight against COVID-19 with the introduction of its portfolio of hand sanitizer products made at its showcase distillery.
Authentic Seacoast’s founder Glynn Williams said, “Without much fanfare or press, we have gone about this endeavour in a methodical and cautious manner, given that our primary focus is on meeting the very demanding needs of health and long-term care organizations and their front-line personnel in the war against COVID-19. We selected the World Health Organization’s recommended formulation for hand sanitizing products, which is approved for clinical settings. Our product consists of 80% ethanol, the active ingredient in fighting bacteria and germs.
It is a natural extension of our current operations to make hand sanitizer, as its primary ingredient is ethanol. With our supply chain relationships and experience in fermentation, distillation and blending, high speed packaging, sanitation, food safety and quality control, we have the capability and infrastructure to produce hand sanitizer at scale. Having scale enables us to offer hand sanitizer in various formats at a fraction of current market prices, and as a sustainable and reliable source for our customers.
The goal is to first meet the requirements of agencies of federal, provincial and municipal government and charitable organizations serving vulnerable populations. We are honoured to have been able to deliver donated product to local hospitals, long-term care and seniors’ facilities, various government agencies and charities. And we have provided further product at discounted prices to meet their increasing needs. Working with our customers in a spirit of partnership, we anticipate being there for them through these challenging times and in the future as we all adjust to increased awareness about public health and the importance of sanitation.”
